When it comes to Chinese cuisine, the best in Thailand is to be found in Yaowarat, Bangkok's Chinatown, an area that is itself one of the capital's main attractions.

Yaowarat, Bangkok’s Chinatown, was established way back in 1891 when a 15-year-old boy became King Rama V , King of Siam. Today, Yarowarat is populated by Chinese-Thai citizens who have preserved their culture and tradition without losing their identities, and food, clothing, and artefacts – mostly imported from China – can be found here in abundance.

Chinatown can be reached very easily from the city centre by boat, bus or the MRT system.

How to Get to Yarowat, Bangkok's Chinatown

Go by boat for a pleasant river journey, either hiring a long-boat from one of the stages along the way, or by taking the Chaophraya Express Boat which will drop you at Ratchawong Pier from where it is a mere 250-metre walk to Yarowat Road.

There are many buses heading in the direction of Chinatown, too many to list, but there is a choice of very cheap bus, air-conditioned bus, or Microbus, to Yarowat Road or Charoenkrung Road.

By MRT. Cross the bridge at Hua Lum Phong Station and walk 300 metres to the Commemorative Arch where Yarowat Road and Charoenkrung Roads start.
