Red Sky Centara Grand BangkokA Great Addition to Bangkok's Five Star Hotel and Fine Dining SceneBangkok has many fine dining restaurants and a number of these are al fresco eateries, however there is none better than the Centara Grand Hotel Red Sky.
Bangkok has a plethora of sky-high restaurants and bars that you would think it impossible to better those already established. But 55 and Red Sky at Centara Grande Central World Plaza has done just that stolen the edge on the competition. Walking out on to 55 and Red Sky is like walking on top of the world. Ginger and the World55 with Red Sky are the latest additions to Centara Grand’s fine dining venues of Ginger and the World and they have certainly met the standard of excellent fine dining set by both the other restaurants. Red Sky at the top of Centara Grand Hotel55 with Red Sky are at the very summit of the Centara Grand getting there is a little bit of a trek but the high speed lift whisks you from the hotel lobby to the 55 and Red Sky in a matter of seconds. Seconds after the lift doors slide smoothly open you will be walking on to the Red Sky restaurant and marveling at the view and the décor. Red Sky a Great ViewThe view at twilight from the restaurants is stunning: spread before you 55 floors below is the patchwork quilt that is Bangkok. As the night severs the last remnants of day and dusk descends, the city’s famous thoroughfares Ploenchit Road, Sukhumvit Road, Ratchadamri are transformed from black streaks filled with multi-coloured cars, buses and taxis to an illuminated ribbon of red and white automobile lights streaking to their destinations. Red Sky a Cozy EnvironmentUnlike some other rooftop restaurants and bars the 55 with Red Sky offers a cozy almost intimate dining experience. Yes the stars and moon are above and millions of people below and that is not counting the fellow diners. But because of the clever way that the restaurants have been designed no other table seems to be encroaching on your conversation and it is almost possible to believe that you and your companions are the only ones eating there. Red Sky is divided into three sections the bigger being a central eating area that contains the Vodka Bar too. The al fresco Red Sky is dominated by an imposing arch that is illuminated by a constantly changing pattern of pastel coloured lights that match the smoked glass bar’s lighting. Food and WineThe menu is not extensive and that is an advantage as every dish can be given almost individual attention to look and taste as they should – utterly delicious. The wine list is extensive at over 200 labels of some of the finest wines from around the world; but at surprisingly modest prices. Many can be bought by the glass but it is surely better to buy and enjoy a full bottle from this extremely extensive cellar. A Wine Angel ascend on a hoist to select the wine; if you are lucky you will also be given a mini-acrobatic display as the Angel pirouettes and twirls atop this two-storey glass cellar. The Red Sky and 55 are certainly worth a visit by those who are just passing through or who live in the city.
