You can’t miss the Banana Bar for it sits on the corner of Surriwongse Road and the soi itself. This open air bar is ever popular with a mix of clientele mainly but not exclusively gay men out for either an early evening after work drink or a late night nightcap. The seating here is sparse but the service is good, the beer and spirits range extensive and the prices very reasonable.
As it is open on three sides it is ideal for people watching or just watching the world go by.
Swiss owned Dick’s Café is an established continental European style bistro/café that provides a quiet inside bar and an outside seating area. It has a limited range of local and imported beers but an extensive selection of spirits at prices half of those of its neighbouring bars. The seating is comfortable and reminiscent of colonial style wicker-work chairs and tables.
Dick’s menu is small but gives a nice variety of both Western and Thai food with large portions and good prices. Some of the best value for money meals you will have in Bangkok and it is open for brunch at 11 am.
Dick’s Café has regular exhibitions of local and international artists. All the works and for sale and while some can seem a little expensive many more excellent pieces are reasonably priced and sell pretty quickly. Dick’s has a sister bar in Jomtien Beach, Chonburi.
